Announcements for Friday, October 24, 2025

Posted Date: 10/24/25 (2:04 PM)

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

This week, our district proudly recognized Unity Day by wearing orange and participating in a variety of bullying prevention activities across our schools. Unity Day is a powerful reminder of the importance of kindness, acceptance and inclusion. Through classroom discussions, school-wide events and other initiatives, we encouraged every student to stand up against bullying and to choose kindness in their daily interactions. To our families, thank you for partnering with us to reinforce these values at home. Together, we can continue to foster a culture where every student can learn and thrive.

I have a few announcements to share with you today:

Memorial Garden:

The Baldwinsville community is invited to join us in a heartfelt gathering of love, remembrance and unity as we honor the life of James "Jimmy" Ryan, a member of the Class of 2025, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 30th. Together, we will plant new life in the Baker High School Memorial Garden -- a powerful gesture of hope, healing and enduring love. This will be a time to reflect, remember and celebrate a life gone too soon.

The Memorial Garden is more than a place -- it is a living tribute to those we’ve lost and a peaceful space for reflection for all. It stands as a symbol of the deep bonds, shared stories and lasting legacy of the C. W. Baker High School family. All students, families, staff and community members are welcome. The Memorial Garden is located outside Baker Entrance #15, closest to Elden Elementary.

Marching Band:

Our Marching Bees will compete in the 2025 New York State Field Band Conference Championships at the JMA Wireless Dome on Sunday, October 26th. The Bees are scheduled to perform at 7:40 p.m. Come out and support them as they close out their exciting season! Go Bees!

Thank you!

Last Call for SockTober:

This month we are participating in SockTober by collecting new socks for donation to PEACE Inc. in Baldwinsville. SockTober is a nationwide movement to help those in need by providing one of the most requested but often overlooked items – socks! Each school will be accepting new socks of all kinds, including those for men, women, children and babies. Community members can participate by donating new pairs of socks at the Baldwinsville Public Library. Every pair makes a difference!

Marc Mero:

The District continues to stress that safety and mental wellness are a priority for our students and community. The Mental Wellness Committee has arranged for Champion of Choices speaker Marc Mero to visit Ray Middle School and Durgee Junior High School.

Marc Mero is a family and youth advocate whose mission is to empower youth to make positive choices. He uses his own personal experiences and story to inspire students by integrating themes of the prevention of bullying, substance use, and suicide prevention, with a focus on goal setting and the value of relationships.

Presentations are scheduled for Ray Middle School (7th grade only) and Durgee Junior High School students on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.  A family/community presentation will be held that same evening at 6:00 p.m. at  Durgee. We invite all Baldwinsville families to hear this presentation in our efforts to partner with you to best support all students.
